Profiling for the best prospective companies and prospects.
A SmartProfile™ establishes a particular set of predictive, researchable characteristics and associated events for companies most likely to have a need for and an interest in our client's market area attributes.

The key to building a SmartProfile™ of target companies - companies particularly suited for investment in your community - is to identify the most feasible and desirable companies based on intelligence and research that captures certain factual characteristics (sales or employment growth rates, for example) or the occurrence of events that correlate to expansion, relocation or consolidation (such as top executive changes, acquisitions or mergers). With the proliferation of information sources it is critically important to select the right combination of information resources and the right data from each source. Applied Marketing maintains an extensive proprietary database of such information.

By mixing sources of information Applied Marketing can provide a comprehensive set of characteristics for each company. Predictive, researchable characteristics and related events used to develop SmartProfiles™ can include but are not limited to:
Company Size Measures
  • Annual Revenues
  • Number of Employees
  • Number of Company Locations

Growth Factors
  • Revenue Growth
  • Employment Growth
  • Share Price

Predictive Business Behavior and Events
  • Mergers & Acquisitions Activity

I doubt anyone considers the lead development process as fun. It's a time intensive, laborious task that seems to preclude the opportunity to talk about meetings or projects. But ... it is ultimately the key to effectively finding those meetings and projects.

Applied Marketing starts with a universe of possible targets incorporating multiple sources of information: commercial databases, exhibitor and membership lists, and even our own proprietary database of leading companies. We collect important information about each possible target such as SIC and NAICS codes, company size, location(s) data, and even key words for article searching and search engine optimization. Data is compiled and sorted, filtering out the best from the worst, integrating additional in-depth information and then filtering again. The research is done as much to eliminate those that just don't measure up as it is to identify the best companies.

The process is scientific/logic-based in nature, evaluating key metrics, including sales, employment, growth, number of locations, and other numbers. Company activities and events that indicate expansion or consolidation, such as mergers and acquisitions, executive changes, technology development, and overall industry trends, are layered on top of the numbers to identify the target companies that have the means and the indicative corporate behavior.

Once identified, the top level contacts within each company are verified to be sure they are still in their current position - saving time and aggravation when it's time to directly contact these companies. And ultimately, it allows our clients to focus even more time on those meetings and the projects.
